Upgrades between the new Gatton road train facility and William Street will slow traffic until the end of July.
The $4.7 million project will result in asphalt and line marking upgrades along Eastern Drive.
The major road works follows the completion of the Gatton Heavy Vehicle breakdown facility near the Gatton overpass.
A transport department spokesman said the upgrades on Eastern Drive would ensure the continuation of a safe and efficient connection between Gatton and the Warrego Highway.
The project includes laying asphalt and replacing the line markings between the roundabout on the southern side of the Warrego Highway, and the Spencer Street and William Street interception.
The works, which started earlier this month, are expected to be completed in July – weather permitting.
Works will be carried out between 6pm and 6am to minimise traffic delays.
The transport department asks motorists to drive to the road conditions and obey the traffic signs and directions.
