Three people from Windorah, Lockyer Waters, Linville flown to hospital after separate snake bite incidents

A third person has been flown to hospital, this time in Toowoomba, after being bitten by a snake in southern Queensland. Here’s why this summer could be “hectic”.

UPDATE: A third person from southern Queensland has been flown to hospital since Saturday for a snake bite as catchers warn of a dangerous breeding season.

The person was bitten on a property at Diamantina Development Road in Windorah, west of Chareville, on Sunday about 8am.

The Royal Flying Doctors Service took the patient to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.

It follows two other people, one in the Lockyer Valley and another in the Somerset region, being flown to hospitals in Toowoomba and Brisbane with snake bites on Saturday.

Snake catchers warn this year’s breeding season would be “absolutely hectic” thanks to warm conditions and extra rain.

EARLIER: Two people have been flown to hospital in serious conditions following separate snake bite incidents within hours of each other on Saturday.

One person was taken to Toowoomba Hospital after being bitten at a property in Linville in the Somerset region about 3.30pm.

After being treated by paramedics at the scene, the person was flown to hospital in a serious but stable condition about 5pm.

It came just hours after an elderly man was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital following a snake bite at Lockyer Waters in the Lockyer Valley about 2pm.

The man was in a critical condition following the bite.

The Brisbane-based Rescue 500 helicopter was called in by paramedics to assist with the incident.

It comes as snake catchers warn this year’s breeding season would be “absolutely hectic” thanks to warm conditions and extra rain.

“Lots of fat snakes, some pretty massive ones. Lots of them fighting and breeding,” Brisbane snake catcher Josh Castle told News Corp on Wednesday.

“We’re getting a lot of red-bellied and browns at the moment.

“When it warms up it’s going to be absolutely hectic.”
