Laidley Police arrest 21-year-old Lockrose man and charge him with 107 offences following hoon investigation

An extensive investigation by Lockyer Valley police has resulted in a 21-year-old being charged with 107 offences, a majority in connection to alleged hoon activities across the Darling Downs.

A 21-year-old Lockyer Valley man has been slapped with more than 100 charges and his phone seized after he was arrested following an extensive investigation into hoon activity across the region and beyond.

The probe by Laidley Police resulted in a vehicle being intercepted on Caleys Court, Lockrose at about 11.30am on February 18.

Through a combination of social media footage and information from the public, the Lockrose man was taken into custody.

Police allege the Ford Falcon the man was stopped in was defective, unregistered, uninsured and was allegedly linked to numerous investigations into dangerous driving offences between February 7 and February 18 in the Darling Downs district.

The alleged Lockrose driver was charged with 107 offences including 23 counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, 25 counts each of unregistered vehicle, uninsured vehicle and defective vehicle, seven counts of supplying dangerous drugs and one count each of possessing anything use in the commission of a crime and driving while using a mobile phone.

Laidley Police Station officer in charge Acting Senior Sergeant Damian van den Berg said the arrest was an example of the station’s dedication to the region.

“Intentionally driving an unsafe vehicle in a dangerous manner on public roads is not only putting the lives of the driver and passengers on the line, but innocent members of the public,” he said.

The 21-year-old man is set to appear in the Gatton Magistrates Court on April 24.

Investigations into the hooning activities are ongoing, with anyone with information into dangerous driving offences urged to come forward.
