GATTON will finally have some much needed accommodation when its first 4-star development Room Motels opens its doors just before Christmas.

Developer and motel operator AB Group began the build of the 34-room facility opposite the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre back in June. And while there were some "minor-setbacks" construction is on track for a completion date of December 20.

AB Group General Manger Colin Buckley said the Lockyer Valley was originally selected because it was lacking accommodation.

"It's very positive for the Cultural Centre too, they will finally be able to book in conferences that go longer than a day," Mr Buckley said.

"And the university has some 40 conferences per year, so this will make it more possible for them to hold those conferences as there is now closer accommodation available."

While the hotel's grand opening won't be until January 19, 2017, Mr Buckley said there would be a soft-opening this side of Christmas.

"We are just excited to be getting the doors open, people are welcome to come and check it out," Mr Buckley said.

"The finishing touches like the driveways getting concreted and the landscaping are close to being completed.

"We will be taking bookings from our website from December 23."

Mr Buckley said Rooms Hotel would have an open day on Saturday, January 21.

"Everyone from the community is welcome to come through," he said.

With the first stage of the development costing close to $5 million, Mr Buckley confirmed further stages would follow "later".

"One feature of this stage is our two bridal suites, which are much larger rooms to accommodate for weddings."

Coulta, Crosby Design on-site building manager, Jason Coulta, said the progress of the development had been excellent.

"We have kept to the program, even despite some bad weather," Mr Coulta said.

"The staff have worked really hard to meet our target."
