Gatton’s best bakery owner is baking a dream to open his own local restaurant in town

A Gatton bakery that’s been open for a shorter time frame than the coronavirus pandemic has taken out the accolade as the best bakery in town.

Voted by Gatton Star readers, the Gatton Bakehouse claimed top honours thanks to its friendly service and quality products.

Owner Long Tran was humbled by the announcement, and said he thanked Gatton Star readers and was appreciative to the Gatton community.

“This is the step to what we want to be and achieve – bringing new products and nice food for the customer,” he said.

“When we make our products, we put our heart into that, and the customers recognise that.”

Having worked as a head chef and patisserie baker, Mr Tran opened his Vietnamese bakery in Gatton in November last year.

His specialty is the Vietnamese bread roll, but Mr Tran said he wanted to introduce more Vietnamese style salads to the customers.

“We want to bring more healthy food. I want to introduce the customers to more Vietnamese salads, they are really nice and healthy,” he said.

In addition, Mr Tran said he would one day like to open a restaurant in the region.

“I worked as a head chef, and I want to open a restaurant, but I’m just waiting – it’s a plan for the future,” he said.”

“I really love it here, and the people are lovely and friendly.”
