Criminals have picked off timber for a new home, along with business items and cars during a string of break-ins in Gatton

Thieves have allegedly stolen cars, business items and timber during a series of break-ins across the Gatton district.

Alleged thieves have stolen timber destined for a new home, as well as breaking into multiple businesses in the past week across Gatton and surrounding towns.
Gatton police have outlined the offences below.

Keys, car stolen during motel break-in

Alleged offenders have broken into a room at Rooms Motel in Gatton and stolen items including car keys.

The offender then stole a Ford vehicle, which was later recovered near Toowoomba.

As a result of inquiries and CCTV footage, police charged a 32-year-old man with burglary and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He will appear in the Gatton Magistrates Court on July 5.

Business hit, items pinched in robbery

On June 12, a business on Western Drive, Gatton, was broken into by alleged thieves.

Gatton police report display cases were broken and a number of belt buckles were stolen.

Police identified a suspect and as a result a 43-year-old man has appeared in the Gatton Magistrates Court on June 2, but was remanded in custody until July 5.

School break-in ties man to further crimes

Recycle bins have been the target for alleged thieves during an early-morning break-in at Gatton State School.

On June 4, police were alerted to the offence and charged a 26-year-old man.

Inquiries resulted in the man being charged with further offences at other businesses including stealing copper wire from a Railway St business on June 1.

The man was also tracked to damaging the Anglican Church door on May 19, stealing items from Gatton IGA on May 18 and breaching bail.

The man is currently in custody.

Timber, copper wire stolen

Gatton CIB are investigating a theft from the Energex Depot on Woodlands Rd in Gatton, where it’s alleged the facility was broken into and copper wire was stolen on June 3.

On the same night, timber was stolen from a new Lake Clarendon home construction site.

Investigations are continuing into both matters.
