Room hire rates at the Kilcoy Visitor Information Centre have been slashed for community groups in a bid to continue to use the facility.
Somerset Regional Council has reduced its theatre hire rates at its Kilcoy Visitor Information Centre by as much as 79 per cent for community groups.
Human Social Recovery Sub-Group representative Cr Helen Brieschke said the building offered the community fantastic meeting spaces for hire.
“Many people may not realise the Kilcoy information centre was built to provide environmental information, cater for tourists and has a theatre with projection equipment,” Cr Brieschke said.
“We are keen to increase community and private use of the centre and to do that we have reduced hire fees to community groups to as little as $88 a day.
“At the same time, we will no longer be making the main environmental display room available for hire, so that we can concentrate use of the second display room for meetings and community use.
“Having a small cinema available for hire in Kilcoy at reasonable rates is a great asset to our community.”
