Two elderly men in hospital, another man in police custody

Emergency services were called to an incident in the Lockyer Valley where two men were taken to hospital, another taken into custody

Two elderly men have been transported to Toowoomba Base Hospital following an incident on the Warrego Highway on-ramp at Helidon. 

A spokesman for the Queensland Ambulance Service said the men, one aged in his 80s and the other in his late 70s, both sustained injuries from their seatbelts but were in a stable condition. 

A spokeswoman from the Queensland Police Service said another man had been taken into custody after he was allegedly swerving in and out of traffic and driving erratically. 

Police are yet to provide further details about the suspect who remains in custody. 

EARLIER

A man has reportedly been taken into custody after a police incident involving two vehicles at Helidon.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said officers were called at 11.30am after reports of a traffic incident near the Gatton bypass road.

It is believed traffic has been affected in both directions of the Warrego Highway.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said two ambulance crews were sent to the two vehicle incident with paramedics treating people at the scene.
