HOCKEY: Having the right skills to make a quick decision has landed Adriana Silcock on the Queensland 21's Indoor Hockey team which will take on the rest of Australia in January.

It's the second time Silcock, 19, will take to the field with team, having represented Queensland previously in 2013 and last year in the 18's team.

"I'm really excited because I've been on the team before and we've got a pretty strong team this year," Silcock said.

"Hopefully we can go really well (and) make the finals."

The striker said she was hoping the team would make the finals this year.

"New South Wales always bring a strong team," she said.

On average, Silcock drives from her Coolana home to Brisbane at least four times a week for training, indoor games and outdoor matches.

She also coaches at Ipswich Girls Grammar School and is studying Sport, health and Physical Education at USQ Springfield.

Silcock started playing hockey when she was in year five at school.

She competed in an under 15's state challenge, which inspired her to continue the sport and her passion as a striker.

"I really like shooting at goals in indoor because it's a really fast game and you have to think really quickly," Silcock said.

"You've got to have the right skills to make a quick decision."

Silcock will train with the Queensland 21s indoor hockey team on January 7 and 8 in Wollongong ahead of the tournament from January 9 to 12.
