Despite being denied entry to Queensland at the border, a Victorian woman has managed to find her way in to the state and arrive at an address in Laidley.
Police officer-in-charge Regan Draheim said the Victorian woman was fined $4135 and put into hotel quarantine after police located her at Laidley.
The woman was found on Wednesday, August 4, just after 1.30am.
Senior Sergeant Draheim said it was unknown how the woman crossed the border.
He said Laidley residents at the home where the woman was found were unaware of the circumstances.
The border jumper follows a Lockyer Valley resident who this week tried to leave the lockdown area with a packed campervan and headed Gladstone.
Another Lockyer Valley man was busted by Gatton police for bringing a north coast friend back into the quarantine area, who also had a string of crimes attached.
The arrest comes as Queensland recorded 10 new cases on Friday, all of which are linked to the Indooroopilly cluster.
From the 10 cases, just two individuals were infectious in the community for one day during the south east Queensland lockdown.
With lockdown nearing the predicted end, Sergeant Draheim said the Laidley community was doing the right thing.
“We’ve given out a lot of advice but haven’t had a great deal of drama in the Laidley area,” he said.
This week, Laidley officers have done almost 200 street checks, monitoring the lockdown situation, with Laidley residents doing a great job.
“Overall, our jobs are way down, and crime levels are very good from that perspective,” Sergeant Draheim said.
In the past 24 hours, a total of 48,028 coronavirus tests were conducted.
The state has 132 active cases, 89 of which are linked to the Indooroopilly school cluster.
