More than 30,000 people are expected to be welcomed back to the Queensland’s largest community fun run on Sunday.
Now in its 26th year, the Sunday Mail Transurban Bridge to Brisbane will see those running or walking the 10km course once again starting on the Gateway Bridge in Murrarie from 6.10am, and ending on Gregory Tce at the RNA Showgrounds in Bowen Hills.
Participants had a six year hiatus from starting on the bridge, with the original, more popular route reintroduced in 2021.
Those running or walking in the 4.5km event will also finish at the showgrounds, but will start at Hercules Park on Kingsford Smith Dr, Hamilton, from 10am.
Over the years, more than $11 million has been used for several different charities thanks to the fun run, including $1.2 million in 2021 alone, according to organisers.
A number of road closures will be in place for the event this weekend, developed in consultation with the Brisbane City Council, the Queensland Police Service, Transurban and other authorities.
To keep traffic moving during the Gateway Bridge southbound closure, the Clem7 southbound tunnel and the southbound portion of the Airportlink/M7 tunnel will be toll free between 5am and 9.30am Sunday.
