A WOMAN is in Hervey Bay hospital with a broken arm and ankle after falling from a ledge at Fraser Island on Thursday morning.
The woman in her 50s was hiking at Indian Head at about 11.30am on the east side of the island when she fell three feet, injuring her right side.
Due to her injuries, the RACQ Careflight chopper was called but was unable to respond because of another job.
The Queensland Government's Rescue 500 chopper was sent to the scene.
The woman was taken to Hervey Bay hospital in a stable condition where she received treatment.
