Woman, baby taken to hospital after Point Vernon house fire

A woman and a baby were taken to hospital after a fire started in the bedroom of a home.

A woman and a baby were taken to hospital for observation after a house fire in Point Vernon overnight.

A spokeswoman from the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service said the fire had started in the bedroom of the home on Kiwi Court.

Two fire crews were tasked to the scene about 2.18am on Saturday, but the blaze had been extinguished when they arrived, the spokeswoman said.

Crews remained at the scene until about 1am.

The woman, aged in her 20s, was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital along with the baby in a stable condition for observation.
