Busted trailer lights, misplacing keys and homeschooling, My Kitchen Rules stars Dan and Steph Mulheron have shared the “challenging adventure” of filming season two of their TV cooking series.
After a successful first season of Travel and EAT with Dan & Steph which aired on the Seven Network in July 2021, season two has nearly finished production.
The series-four My Kitchen Rules winners spent three weeks filming on the road, travelling from the Fraser Coast to Noosa and Toowoomba.
“Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong...” Ms Mulheron laughed.
“So it was an adventure.”

After borrowing a friend’s truck, the Hervey Bay couple towed their three-and-a-half tonne food van across regional Queensland.
“We lost lights one day... we left keys in the Channel 7 4WD but then drove all the way to Brisbane with the keys to our truck, so we had to send an uber driver to Brisbane from Toowoomba to pick up the keys and come back,” Mr Mulheron said.

The couple’s Airbnb in Toowoomba was also on a one-way street on a hill, which proved challenging for the cooking duo to manoeuvre their massive 20m truck and trailer combo.
Their seven-year-old daughter Emmy was also homeschooled on the road.
“It was a family adventure...” Ms Mulheron said.
“Just her being by our side meant so much, she loves it.”
The Mulherons also find all the sponsorship for their cooking-meets-travel show, while juggling behind the scenes work, producing and running their EAT at Dan & Steph’s cafe in Hervey Bay.
The first episode kicks off on the Fraser Coast and explores indigenous cuisine with the Butchulla people.
“Super exciting that we get to showcase our beautiful home town of the Fraser Coast on episode number one,” Ms Mulheron said.
The episode in Toowoomba explores a German theme with three farmers, while the episode set in Noosa showcases Italian food.
“It’s all about creating and looking at everyone’s cultures and then us creating food from that,” she said.
Every episode, the couple apply what they learn to create two recipes with their “Dan and Steph spin”.
Season two will also air Australia-wide, unlike the first season which only aired in Queensland.
“We couldn’t do it without our major sponsors which is SunPork, they back us 100 per cent,” Mr Mulheron said.
Given their background stocking their own sausage products with SunPork in 800 Coles stores across the country, they said there was an emphasis on pork throughout the TV show.
There was also talk about a third season, with plans to go aboard.
Season two of Travel and EAT with Dan & Steph airs in three episodes on Channel 7 on December 7, 15 and 22 at 2.30pm.
After the first episode airs on December 7, the two recipes cooked on the show will be available as specials at their cafe.
