Tourist airlifted off Fraser Island after centipede bite

A MAN who took a centipede bite to the face was the second tourist to be airlifted off Fraser Island over the weekend.

A MAN who took a centipede bite to the face was the second tourist to be airlifted off Fraser Island over the weekend.

The 41-year-old man from Albury Wodonga was holidaying with family at Central Station.

He was bitten on the forehead while sleeping sometime in the early morning on Sunday.

The AGL Action Rescue Helicopter rescue team airlifted the man to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.

A nine-year-old boy was also airlifted off the island on Saturday afternoon after a possible irukandji sting.

He was also airlifted to Hervey Bay Hospital.
