A SURVEY that will influence the new Fraser Island dingo management strategy has been opened for comment.

The dingo management strategy is under review by Queensland company Ecosure, which will present its report by the end of the year.

As well as the survey, the company will hold a public workshop at Maryborough Motel this Friday.

"It's important every Queenslander has the opportunity to provide input into the way these unique and precious animals are managed," Environment Minister Andrew Powell said.

"Ecosure's review of Fraser Island dingo management is fully independent and the consultants'work is being overseen by a steering committee comprising a number of independent scientific experts.

"Weclearly stated from the outset that we wanted to give all interested parties every opportunity to put their views forward, this ensures that those who are not able to attend the consultation session this Friday will still have that chance."

Visit ecosure.com.au to take part in the survey.

It will be open until October 16 and includes questions on public education, conservation and welfare and cultural values.

Phone 3330 5373 for more information on the public meeting.
