She’s been pampering pets for the last 12 years and loves transforming some of the Fraser Coast’s four-legged friends. Get to know her here.

For Carly Spencer, one of the most rewarding things about pet grooming is gaining the trust of pets and their owners after a trip to the salon.

When the Fraser Coast Chronicle put the call out to find the coast’s best pet groomer, hundreds of votes and nominations came in.

Carly, from Tender Touch Dog Grooming, was voted the winner.

She told the Chronicle she started out in the industry 12 years ago, volunteering at a pet grooming business.

This year, she is celebrating 10 years of having her own pet grooming business.

“I just like working with animals and gaining their trust when they’re nervous and learning their different personalities,” she said.

“I get a lot of dogs have been badly treated in the past, so I love transforming them and giving them a bit of life back and making them happy, and I love the creative side as well.”

Carly said some of the most common breeds she groomed included Poodles, Schnauzers, West Highland Terriers and Shih tzu’s.

“I get the winter and the summer cuts, but also do dog dying,” she said.

“I commonly get asked to do pink or purple tails or ears.”

As well as her dog grooming, Carly also has a market stall at the Howard markets where she sells dog treats and her own range of canine shampoos and creams.

“I just want to thank all of my wonderful clients, I’ve got so many of them and have made so many friends, I wouldn’t have a business if it wasn’t for them,” she said.
