Fire has completely destroyed a home on a rural Fraser Coast property.
The alarm was raised about 4pm amid reports the house, on a country road at Bidwill, near Maryborough, was “well involved” in flames.
The Chronicle can confirm everyone has been accounted for are there are no injures.
Speaking at the scene, Inspector Cameron Corneal said due to the location there was a lack of available water, which caused extra challenges for crews at the scene.
“It was difficult to conduct fire suppression, so we had a number of vehicles attend,” he said.
As well as combating the structure fire, crews had also had to deal with a grassfire that ignited because of the blaze.
He said while the location had made it challenging the blaze had now been brought under control.
Insp Corneal said the cause of the fire had yet to be determined.
However, the old home has collapsed and embers from the home sparked a grassfire in the neighbouring paddock which also had to be brought under control.
11 firefighting crews, a mix of urban and rural are on scene.
More to come.
