FRASER Coast businesses are rejoicing as millions of dollars get pumped into the region thanks to the 2013 Australian Scout Jamboree.
"It has put a buzz in the community," Fraser Coast Mayor Gerard O'Connell said.
Buses, toilets and showers, cleaning contracts and other hire equipment have all given a boost to local business and the site also has food trucks run by the Maryborough Lions Club.
Cr O'Connell said the benefits of the event would last for years as scouts returned to home and spread the word about the Fraser Coast.
"That has enormous and almost untold economic benefit," he said.
He said in excess of $20 million would make its way in to the Fraser Coast economy.
Even Fraser Island is benefiting, with about $37,000 spent on two-day retreats for about 250 of the 3000 scout leaders attending.
AJ2013 Escape It! assistant program director Desley Staatz said there were also leaders and volunteers staying in town and pumping money into businesses.
