ROLLING COVERAGE: AFL - Bay Power lead into the fourth

The Battle of the Bay between Hervey Bay cross-town rivals, Bay Power and the Hervey Bay Bombers for Wide Bay AFL supremacy gets under way this afternoon.

AFL: The Battle of the Bay between Hervey Bay cross-town rivals, Bay Power and the Hervey Bay Bombers for Wide Bay AFL supremacy gets under way this afternoon.

To keep up to date with the latest news and scores the Chronicle will have rolling coverage from 5pm.

Bay Power were the first team into today's Grand Final after securing the minor premiership.

A win today would secure the first senior premiership for the club.

Hervey Bay Bombers defeated Brothers Bulldogs last week for the right to challenge for the flag.

The Bombers hope to avenge last year's finals loss to the Gympie Cats.

SENIOR FINALS

The reserves final has been won by the Hervey Bay Bombers.  

The red and blacks proved too strong for Bay Power running out victors 9.11-65 to 5.10-40.

Under sunny and windy conditions the crowd is growing ready for  the main clash which will start at 5pm.

BATTLE OF THE BAY

Teams are on the field, lined up facing the clubhouse separated by the umpires.

Bay Power have won the toss and will run towards the northern end  of the field with the strong wind behind them in the first quarter.

Match is underway with the first point of the match scored by Bay Power with a behind.

Bombers hit back with a behind of their own.

Bay Power's Michael Walsh kicks the first major of the match.  

Bay Power lead 8-2 midway through the first quarter.

At quarter time Bay Power lead the Hervey Bay Bombers 2.5-17 to 0.2-2.

The match is still stopped as Queensland Ambulance Service officers treat the injured Walsh.

Play resumes as the injured player is transported to Hervey Bay hospital.

SECOND QUARTER

Play is stopped early in the second quarter with Bay Power player Lachlan Smith being treated on the field after a head knock.

First Aid officers are attending to Smith as they await the arrival of the ambulance.

In a tight affair with the wind playing a role in the match Bay Power lead at half-time  2.8-20 to 2.4-16.

THIRD QUARTER

The second half is underway.

Bay Power's wayward kicking may come back to haunt them in the fourth quarter.

Thirteen scoring shots have only resulted in two goals.

The first goal of the quarter was kicked by Bay Power.

They extend their lead to 12 points.

The siren sounds for three quarter time with Bay Power leading the Hervey Bay Bombers 3.14-32 to 2.5-17.

FOURTH QUARTER

Final quarter is underway.

Matthew Saunders kicks the first goal of the quarter to extend the lead of Bay Power to 21.

With 12 minutes left to play the Hervey Bay Bombers are becoming frustrated.

Josh Wheeler kicks a goal to extend their lead to 28 points.

Bay Power are closing in on the club's first premiership.

Hervey Bay Bombers and not giving up with a goal to reduce the margin.

Another goal to Bay Power.

They lead by 34 points with eight minutes to play.

Full-time - Bay Power win their first premiership.

FINAL SCORE: 7.16-58 to 3.5-18
