The Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre made an impact of almost $1.8 million to the community in 2021, a report has found.
The recently released Neighbourhood Centres Queensland’s Impact Snapshot report found the centre had contributed $14.44 in services for every $1 of Queensland funding received, or $391.24 of community value for every one hour in use.
The centre has been a home to the services, volunteers and events since 1989, giving support to community members through various programs.
“The HBNC team is fully committed to making our community a stronger and more resilient one,” HBNC CEO Tanya Stevenson said.
The report estimated the centre produced more than $1,760,579 a year during Covid.
This included $969,539 value of improved quality of life through social connection, $568,110 worth of volunteer contributions and $175,440 worth of services provided.
From providing meals to legal advice, the numbers shows the positive impact made in people’s lives through the centre’s range of services, a statement from the centre said.
“We’re very, very thankful for all the work the community centre does,” Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said on Friday.
“They help people in a very caring and compassionate way.”
