Power outage causes havoc across the Fraser Coast

Numerous sets of traffic lights are out around the CBD and about 15,000 residents and businesses are without power. Here’s what we know so far:

Thousands of homes and businesses are reportedly without power due to unexpected “damage requiring emergency repairs”.

Power was lost across the area from about 2pm on Tuesday leaving traffic lights on the blink and causing havoc around the CBD.

Ergon Energy stated that fault finding was in progress but it’s unknown how long the affected areas will be without power.

Meanwhile there are reports emerging of multiple explosions at a major power station that could be to blame for widespread outages across the state.
