Second motorcycle crash in just hours on Fraser Coast

Just hours after a motorcyclist was rushed to hospital with critical injuries after crashing into a fence outside a school in Hervey Bay, emergency crews have been called out to a second crash involving a dirt bike.

Just hours after a motorcyclist was critically injured in Hervey Bay, emergency crews have been called out to a crash involving a dirt bike at nearby Susan River.

In the first incident, a motorcyclist was critically injured after crashing into a fence at Hervey Bay High School overnight.

The 28-year-old man sustained serious, chest, pelvic and leg injuries in the crash, which happened about 7.45pm on Saturday.

According to police, the man reportedly lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into the fence on Old Maryborough Rd.

He was transported to Hervey Bay Hospital in a critical condition for treatment.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and is appealing for any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage or CCTV to come forward.

Investigations are ongoing.

In a separate incident on Sunday, a car and dirt bike collided about 9.20am on Maryborough-Hervey Bay Rd near the intersection of Settlers Rd at Susan River.

A woman suffered a shoulder injury in the crash and was transported to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
