Toogoom man to face Hervey Bay court on sex abuse charges
A Toogoom man charged with 21 offences related to sexual abuse over the course of 10 years will face Hervey Bay District Court in the coming months.

A Toogoom man charged with numerous sexual abuse offences will face Hervey Bay District Court in the coming months.
The 65-year-old man who cannot be named for legal reasons has been charged with one count of indecent treatment of a child Under 16 as Lineal Descendant, Guardian or Carer, two counts of attempted rape, two counts of indecent treatment of a Children Under 16 as lineal descendant, guardian and carer, four counts of rape, eight counts of indecent treatment of a child under 12, indecent treatment of a child (Indecent Film etc) under 12 Years, Indecent Treatment of a child under 12 Years (expose), indecent treatment of a child under 12 Years (procure to commit) and indecent Treatment of children under 12 Years as lineal descendant/guardian or carer.
The court heard the alleged offences took place between 2012 and 2022.
Magistrate Stephen Guttridge said the man was an unacceptable risk to the community and remanded him in custody.
His next hearing will be in the Hervey Bay District Court with an appearance date yet to be finalised.
