Teens still missing after joy ride ends in Boonooroo crash

Two teens who fled into bushland after crashing a stolen car during a joy ride on the Fraser Coast have still not been found by police.

The search continues for two teens who allegedly crashed a stolen car near Boonooroo before fleeing into thick bushland weeks ago.

The incident happened in mid September, with police confirming on Monday that the teens still had not been found.

A Mitsubishi Lancer was stolen about 5.15am on September 18 from Mary View Drive in Yengarie, 5km west of Maryborough, police said.

It was then driven across the Fraser Coast before colliding with another vehicle on Boonooroo Rd, near Boonooroo Plains, about 6am.

No one was hurt in the crash.

Police began searching for the teenagers in nearby bushland with the RACQ LifeFlight helicopter called in to help about 1.30pm, but they could not be located.

The stolen car was seized by police and investigations are continuing.
