Driver of stolen Mustang sparks police search after crashing and fleeing

A stolen muscle car driver remains at large after abandoning their vehicle following a collision sequence that killed a kangaroo and involved police cars in Urraween.

A police search is underway on the Fraser Coast for the driver of a stolen muscle car who allegedly fled the scene after an accident.

Police are investigating the incident involving a stolen Black Ford Mustang in Urraween on November 24, 2025.

About 2pm police on patrol saw the Mustang stopped at the traffic lights on Main Street, Urraween.

The car had allegedly hit a kangaroo, which had to be put down.

The Mustang was involved in a minor collision with a police car and a tow truck before the driver was unable to manoeuvre it, and then abandoned it, fleeing the scene.

Investigations are ongoing.
