A man has found himself in hot water after being busted in possession of a single blood pressure pill.
Quinn Collingwood pleaded guilty to possessing a controlled drug when he faced Maryborough Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Sonia Edwards said Collingwood had been in custody in relation to another matter when police carried out a search.
A single blue tablet had been located in his back pocket, Sgt Edwards said.
The tablet was identified as being for the treatment of high blood pressure and required a prescription.
She said Collingwood admitted he did not have a current prescription but had previously had similar drugs and he used it to treat himself for alcohol withdrawals.
Defence lawyer Morgan Harris said Collingwood had previously been prescribed the medication, about a year before.
“He made admissions to police, he was cooperative with police,” he said.
“It was a single tablet and he had previously been prescribed similar medication with regard to his heart and alcohol withdrawal symptoms, but accepts he doesn't have a current prescription.”
Collingwood was receiving a disability support pension and had been diagnosed with PTSD after a traumatic head-on car crash.
Magistrate John Milburn said he accepted Collingwood had been previously prescribed the medication.
“I also note the quantity, one tablet only,” he said.
“You do have drug related history of some significance, although there was a gap in time between that charge of production and possession of dangerous drugs and the events of today.”
Collingwood was fined $200 and no conviction was recorded.
