A Morayfield man who allegedly caused a crash in a stolen car, which killed a Hervey Bay nurse had his case mentioned in court on Thursday morning.
Jayden Lindsey Ainslie, who did not appear for his mention, is charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance while excessively speeding, stealing, possessing dangerous drugs, wearing of approved seatbelts by drivers, and two counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and driving unlicensed.
He has not entered pleas.
Police allege Mr Ainslie was driving a stolen Ford Escape on Booral Rd, Sunshine Acres when he collided with a car carrying Christine Lyness, 39, a mum of two and much-loved wife and nurse in March.
She has since been remembered as a “gorgeous and caring soul”.
Virginia Ukpabi of Geldard Sherrington Lawyers sought an adjournment for late January, telling the court her team had been given instructions to request an ex-officio for the charges of dangerous use of a vehicle causing death and unlawful use of a vehicle, in order for these charges to proceed to the district court.
Acting Magistrate Stephen Guttridge suggested pushing back the mention to February, so that the other matters in the case “could be finalised”.
The case will be mentioned again in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on February 20 and Mr Ainslie was remanded in custody.
