The court heard the incident occurred at 2am on April 2 when officers from the Maryborough Police Station were responding to a noise complaint in the area.

Casey, while intoxicated and high on MDMA, began to verbally abuse police upon their arrival at the scene, yelling (among other insults) “f--k off you c---s”.

He then obstructed their attempts to arrest him.

After arriving at the station, Casey continued to abuse the officers calling them “f-----s” and “p----s”.

He then spat towards the officers which landed on both of their faces.

The officers later undertook tests which came back clear of disease.

Casey’s lawyer told the court his client was young, had a “limited” criminal history and had been sober since the arrest.

He also said Casey had been diagnosed with depression and ADHD and was receiving treatment for bipolar disorder.

Casey was placed on nine-months' probation for public nuisance and obstructing police offences and sentenced to four months’ jail, wholly suspended for the assaults.

Convictions were recorded.
