Fraser Coast police are continuing to investigate a house fire that tore through a home at Urangan in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Reports suggest the blaze started around 1am, being called in by neighbours who reported “hearing noises” before seeing the home fully engulfed in flames.
“The entire dwelling was affected by the fire and destroyed,” a police media spokeswoman said.
Police said the Crescent St fire was being treated as suspicious and was under investigation.
On Tuesday, a spokeswoman confirmed the investigation into the fire was ongoing.
Hervey Bay firefighters are also investigating the cause of the blaze.
Paramedics stood by in support of the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services at the blaze, but due to the home being empty, no one was harmed.
Nearby neighbour Gerrit Schoonderwoerd captured footage of the horrifying blaze, and told of how he looked outside his bedroom window at 1am and saw the smoke and glow from the fire.
At first, he thought it was the boat club alight, but then realised it was a neighbouring home.
“It was really terrible,” Mr Schoonderwoerd said.
