Court bid against ex-councillor Rolf Light dropped after he sells home

A neighbourhood dispute in millionaire’s row that forced a former councillor to make multiple court appearances has ended abruptly. VIDEO.

An application for a peace and good behaviour order against a former Fraser Coast councillor and businessman has been withdrawn after the sale of his beachside home.

Ex-councillor Rolf Light appeared several times at the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court after his neighbour Charlotte Holloway made an application for a peace and good behaviour order earlier this year.

The application was discontinued on Monday by Ms Holloway.

“I have been given information that Mr Light has sold the property, vacated and won’t be returning,” Ms Holloway said.

A search of property records shows Mr Light’s four-bedroom, three-bathroom home on Pandanus Drive in the high-end suburb of Dundowran Beach, sold in September and settled in November for $1.8million.

There were questions surrounding the validity of the application when it was first mentioned in court on October 13.

It was recommended to Ms Holloway by Magistrate Trinity McGarvie in October that she might want to get seek legal advice regarding the contents of her application.

Mr Light, who retired in 2020 after two terms and eight years as the Fraser Coast Regional councillor for Division 5, claimed it was a vexatious litigation that had no substance.

“I will be fighting it,” he said.

Now it seems whatever the issue was between the neighbours is a moot point with Mr light selling and vacating his property.

A request was made on Monday by Mr Light’s defence lawyer, Daniel Ould, for compensation for the costs of the number of court appearances Mr Light made.

This was denied because the application was withdrawn before the matter was heard.
