A father of five on a disability pension has faced the court after police raided his home at Granville last month.

A father of five caught with a “significant” quantity of cannabis during a police raid has faced court in Maryborough.

Corey Dennis Mccutcheon pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs and possessing an item suspected of being used in commission of a drug-related offence when he faced Maryborough Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police prosecutor Balam Selvadurai said on May 19, 2025, police raided a Granville home when Mccutcheon and others were present.

They found about 500g of cannabis and an electronic scale, Sergeant Selvadurai said.

Duty lawyer Warren Hunter said the facts were not in dispute and he had been told the cannabis was for personal use.

Mr Hunter said Mccutcheon had ADHD and was illiterate.

He was receiving a disability support pension and was living with his partner, with whom he shared five children.

Magistrate John Milburn said Mccutcheon had previous criminal history.

“In 2022 in this court you were fined $700 for possession of drugs and prior to that you had a drug-related offence in 2019.

“The quantity is significant but there is no element of commerciality alleged.”

Mccutcheon was fined $1500 and a conviction was recorded.

Forfeiture of the items was also ordered.
