Paul Truscott elected deputy mayor of Fraser Coast council 2024

Less than a week after the new Fraser Coast Regional Council was sworn in at Maryborough’s Brolga Theatre, the councillors have gathered to elect Paul Truscott deputy mayor.

Mr Truscott previously served as deputy mayor from March, 2022, to March, 2023.

“The Fraser Coast is a dynamic, rapidly growing region which brings a range of challenges and opportunities for council and the community,” he said.

“As a council, we are committed to providing focused service delivery, maintaining financial sustainability, effectively managing and maintaining our assets, and planning for the future.

“I am eager to contribute my skills, experience, and passion as deputy mayor.

“I look forward to working diligently alongside all councillors and staff to foster a positive and productive work environment.

“I am ready and excited for the opportunity to serve our community once again in this capacity, and I look forward to working closely with the Mayor and all my council colleagues to build better communities together.”

Mr Truscott was appointed deputy mayor by his council colleagues at this week’s post-election council meeting at Maryborough City Hall.

The council appoints the position annually, with Denis Chapman serving as deputy mayor since March 2023.

It confirmed that its first ordinary meeting for the 2024 – 2028 term will be on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 10am in the Hervey Bay Council Chambers.

Future ordinary meetings will be held on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 10am.

The new council is:

• Mayor – George Seymour;

• Division 1 – Michelle Byrne;

• Division 2 – Phil Truscott;

• Division 3 – Paul Truscott;

• Division 4 – Daniel Sanderson;

• Division 5 – Michelle Govers;

• Division 6 – Lachlan Cosgrove;

• Division 7 – John Weiland;

• Division 8 – Denis Chapman;

• Division 9 – Sara Faraj;

• Division 10 – Zane O’Keefe.
