ON NEW Year's Eve RACQ Careflight Rescue Helicopter flew to Fraser Island to help a teen suffering suspected spinal injuries.

The young male in his early teens sustained suspected spinal injuries from an incident that occurred at Kirra Sand Blow on the Island.

Due to the nature of the terrain, RACQ CareFlight crew members had to winch a paramedic down to  treat and  stabilised the young patient  at the scene.

The paramedic with assistance walked the patient to meet QAS staff, who then transported the patient by car to Happy Valley and then flown to Hervey Bay Hospital

This was the third mission flown by RACQ CareFlight Rescue's Bundaberg crew which was a monumental effort on their last day of service for 2015.
