SOME people use age as an excuse to avoid things - "I'm too old for that", or "I'm only young, I have plenty of time later".

"Real life" does not begin once you finish school, graduate university or get married, and nor does it stop when you retire or reach 60.

There are plenty of energetic, vibrant people of all ages out there who work hard to make this a fun place to live.

Sports volunteers, charity event workers, and community helpers all go above and beyond to keep us entertained, and we live in one of the most naturally beautiful places in Australia.

We just have to follow Betty's lead, spot the opportunities and make the most of it.
