New Eli Waters animal clinic explores transportation service idea for clients

A new Hervey Bay vet clinic with a team of eight is already eyeing expansion plans for its staff and its services.

Vet Lentswe Rampa, the practice’s lead veterinarian, and his wife Promise Rampa, the practice’s manager, opened the Eli Waters Animal clinic “as pet lovers who prioritise the wellbeing and welfare of animals, and aim to provide compassionate and affordable quality health care for pets in the Fraser Coast”.

With the population booming in Hervey Bay, rising around 1.36 percent every year, more and more pet owners in the area have experienced challenges getting their pets’ treated by a vet.

A new animal clinic that has just opened in Eli Waters, hopes to elevate the demand for quality veterinary health service.

Originally from South Africa, Dr Rampa and his family migrated to Australia in 2019, where he realised his dream of owning an animal clinic.

The Eli Waters Animal Clinic has a team of eight professionals, made up of three senior vet nurses, one junior vet nurse and two vet trainee nurses, as well as Dr Rampa as the lead vet and his wife Ms Rampa as the practice manager.

“The clinic, which is on the corner of Burrum Heads Hervey Bay Rd and Maryborough Hervey Bay Rd, is easily accessible, making it much quicker and easier for emergency cases to be attended to in a timely manner,” said Mrs Rampa.

“We are currently a small animal clinic catering to all small animals including birds and reptiles, however we will have another two veterinarians joining us at a later stage this year, and one of them has interest and experience in larger animals.

“We also welcome all injured wildlife at no charge to the person bringing them in, and hope to extend our services in the near future to local pet charity organisations to assist with medical advice, general pet care education and medical services for pets in their care.”

The clinic is currently exploring the idea of providing a transportation service in the future, catering to clients who are elderly or have transport issues that limit their access to veterinary service.

“The service would also have an emergency transportation service with a qualified nurse on board to assess and monitor the pet on its way to the clinic,” Mrs Rampa said.
