The mother of a six-year-old boy has remembered her “hilarious” son who wanted to be a fireman as she seeks help covering the cost of his funeral.
In a GoFundMe campaign post, Casey Morris paid tribute to the devastating loss of Magnus Landon Kayde who tragically died at Urangan Shopping Centre on Friday, November 28, 2025.
They were at the busy shopping centre when the boy collapsed.
Emergency crews were called to the shopping centre at Hervey Bay’s Boat Harbour Dr.
Responders and bystanders performed CPR in an effort to save the boy, who was rushed to Hervey Bay Hospital in a life-threatening condition where he died.
Ms Morris said in the campaign post there was so far “no cause” for the “devastating loss not only to me and my daughters but everyone who loved him”.
“I’m raising money to cover cost of his funeral and other cost incurred this year was a very tough year for me and my kids as we have overcame a lot of hurdles and challenges, this one being out biggest one yet,” she said.
“Magnus was a very unwell child but he was the most hilarious little boy.
“The day he passed he caught a toad and name him Jeff and everyone who was around him was so impressed as he was really starting to come out of his shell and act like a boy, he had a love for Spider-Man Hot Wheels, and wanted to be a fireman when he grew up.”
She said she was grateful and thankful for “everyone who helped to try save my little boy that day”.
“I would like to personally thank them for everything they did I would also like to thank the people who held me and tried to comfort and shield me from the eyes of people.
“Magnus will be missed immensely and my heart is breaking every day I just want my baby back.
“I should be waking up to him saying chicken banana and hearing him argue with his older sister, I should be hearing him talk about Minecraft and him raiding our pantry for snacks and catching him with chocolate syrup on his face, I should be playing tooth fairy as he lost a tooth the night before he passed he should be telling me what he wants for Christmas he should be doing his funny crab walk and playing with his sisters and his friends he made he should be chasing me around our yard and he should be singing his favourite songs.
“This pain hurts immensely.”
The campaign has so far raised more than $1000 of its stated $5000 goal, in less than 12 hours since it was launched.
