A new social housing project was announced for Maryborough on Wednesday when Housing Minister Meaghan Scanlon visited the Wide Bay.
Ms Scanlon said a partnership had been formed with Regional Housing Limited, the state government and the Fraser Coast Regional Council to deliver three more social housing homes for Maryborough.
Ms Scanlon also visited the Bundaberg region where the finishing touches were being placed on two new social homes.

She said the state was committing $5 billion to deliver more than 13,000 home across Queensland.
There were currently about 4000 social homes in the Wide Bay region, she said.
“We know partnerships are critical to that though and that’s why we are working with community housing organisations, why we are working to not only unlock more social and affordable homes but to deliver more private homes as well through some of the regional plans that we are doing and some of the local housing action plans I know we are working on with councils.”
Maryborough MP Bruce Saunders said the state was aware the region had a housing issue.

“We are doing everything possible, working with councils, working with providers to make sure we do the best we possibly can to house people in need,” he said.
Ms Scanlon had been “very responsive” to the needs of the region, he said.
“People are doing it tough, we understand that,” Mr Saunders said.
“That’s what a good government does, we’re aware times are tough and the need for social housing, but we’re also working with everyone.”
He thanked the council for its contribution to ensure “people had a roof over their head” and making their land bank available so the new homes could be built.
Hannah Scott from Regional Housing Limited said as a community housing provider, her organisation was delighted to work with the Department of Housing on the project and future projects.
“We are absolutely aware of the need for additional housing within our local communities,” she said.
