The Australian Manufacturing Workers Union said the workers had taken protected industrial action with bargaining for a new enterprise agreement “still ongoing”.

A statement from the union said there were a number of “unresolved and outstanding issues’.

The Chronicle understands an ongoing pay dispute led to industrial action being taken.

“It’s time for Downer to come back to the table and sort this out,” the statement read.

A spokeswoman from Downer said the company was currently in negotiation with unions on a new Enterprise Agreement for the Maryborough facility.

“Downer respects the right of workers to take protected industrial action in pursuit of their claims and remains committed to negotiating an agreed outcome,” she said.
