A spur-of-the-moment decision to grab an extra lotto ticket led a life-changing windfall for a Maryborough woman who won more than $900,000 over the weekend.

The woman held one of the 11 Division One winning entries in Saturday’s Gold Lotto draw 4327, with each Division One winning entry walking away with $909,090.91.

When an official from The Lott made contact with her to confirm her prize on Monday, the woman revealed she’d been eagerly awaiting the call.

“I just can’t believe it’s real. I’ve been waiting for this call,” she said.

“I was just opening the app and just looking at the ticket all day yesterday.

“I checked my ticket around 6am on Sunday morning when I was still in bed. I was definitely awake after that.

“I’ve been waiting for the shock to wear off.

“I was buying a ticket for Tuesday, but while I was there, I thought I’d get one for this draw.

“I’m glad I did. I wasn’t going to, but I thought, ‘Bugger it, why not? You’ve got to be in it to win it’.

“I’m just mind-blown at the moment. I’ve been pacing around the house, wearing out the carpet.”

The winning woman revealed the prize would make a welcome dent in her mortgage.

“It’s definitely going to be a happy new year,” she said.

There are more chances to win big in coming days, with Tuesday’s Oz Lotto offering $3 million in prize money, while Thursday’s Powerball has $4 million up for grabs.
