Multiple Fraser Coast roads and footpaths are set for a facelift after the council confirmed redevelopment plans and their costs.

Bauple Dr, as well as roads in Maryborough, Yerra, and Dundowran are all set to undergo resurfacing works, while Ferry St will get new footpath and kerb upgrades.

The total cost of all projects is $2,980,000, with construction set to begin this month.

The Bauple Dr project will aim to make the road safer, wider, and smoother, a statement from the Fraser Coast Regional Council read.

“Bauple Drive is a key road for the town, connecting residents to homes, farms and businesses. This project will make it safer, stronger and more comfortable for everyday travel,” Cr Phil Truscott said.

“The work will include widening the road, fixing sections that have broken down, clearing overgrown vegetation for better visibility, improving drainage, and giving the road a fresh new bitumen surface with new line markings.”

The works are expected to be finished by September this year.

$1.2 million will be used for road resurfacing, with Mr Truscott saying the works were identified through the council’s regular road inspections, which flagged areas showing signs of wear and tear.

“Asphalt resurfacing involves removing worn sections of road and laying a new surface across the full width, which improves safety and helps the road last longer,” he said.

“These resurfacing works will make a real difference for drivers, improving safety and comfort while also protecting the road base underneath.”

The full list of roads set for resurfacing include Sydney Street, Woongool Rd, the cul-de-sacs in Magnolia Crt, Parkview Crt, Wattle Crt, Yerra Road at the Jacobsens Road intersection, and Hennessy Drive from Ansons Road to Panorama Drive in Dundowran.

On Maryborough’s Ferry St, work will begin this week on replacing damaged kerbing and building a new footpath between Sussex and Walker Streets.

Councillor Daniel Sanderson said the project would make the street safer and more accessible for everyone.

“This is about making it easier and safer for people to walk along this part of Ferry Street,” Cr Sanderson said.

“We’re fixing damaged sections of kerb and building a new concrete footpath where there wasn’t one before.”

Member for Maryborough John Barounis said the footpath upgrade was part of the Crisafulli Government’s broader vision to build more liveable regional communities.

“Small changes like these add up to a big difference in people’s lives and this is a big win for the people of Maryborough,” he said in the statement.

The works will also include fixing and replacing driveways on the street.
