Police have escorted a man from a Queensland courthouse after he allegedly turned up for his appearance drunk, carrying a suspicious bottle of cordial.
Joseph Peter Mckenna was waiting to front Maryborough Magistrates Court on two charges – possession of a knife in a public place and being intoxicated in a public place – when police were called on Tuesday morning.
Video shows him unsteady on his feet and mumbling about “bulls*** charges” as he is asked about the contents of Cottee’s Cordial bottle before the prosecutor smells it and tips the liquid onto the grass.
Mr Mckenna was placed in handcuffs until two police officers arrived at the scene.
He was then escorted to the police vehicle and led from the courthouse.
A spokesman from the Queensland Police Service said Mr Mckenna had since been charged with public nuisance.
He will face Maryborough Magistrates Court on June 20.
