A POD of killer whales remains near Little Woody Island and seems happy and healthy, a spokeswoman for the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service says.
A juvenile from the pod had been breaking away from the group but that was no longer happening and the pod was now sticking together, she said.
Rangers continue to monitor the pod, which has been slowly moving north after running into trouble in the Great Sandy Strait last week.
Two killer whales died on Bookar Island and five others were left stranded at Sheridan Flats on a sandbank.
Rangers kept the five whales in good condition before the high tide came in and they were able to free themselves.
A third dead killer whale was found in the strait on Friday night.
