INTERNATIONAL tourist numbers to the Fraser Coast have continued to drop in 2012.
Tourism Queensland's International Tourism Snapshot was released last week and showed European travellers continued to bypass the Fraser Coast.
The report showed a decline in visitors from the region's key markets in the UK, Germany and Scandinavia.
"The Fraser Coast has not benefited from the growing Chinese market apparent in other regions," the report also said.
Overall, the region had a 16% annual drop in all visitor numbers, including people visiting friends and relatives, people on holidays and people travelling on business.
It was the largest annual drop recorded across Queensland for the year ending March 2012.
There were about 119,000 international visitors on holiday, a drop of about 18% in the past year.
About 34,000 travellers from the United Kingdom visited the Fraser Coast in the year ending March 2012, a drop of about 19%.
The region recorded a 17% annual drop to 96,000 visitors from across all European countries.
Across the state, most regions recorded a drop in visitors.
