Dramatic scenes played out on a peaceful Pialba street on Friday morning as police raided a property and detained a juvenile who was wanted on property and driving offences.

Officers led by the Maryborough Criminal Investigation Branch were on hand to carry out the operation.

Witnesses reported at around 11am, two unmarked cars blocked the driveway of the property and two detectives as well as multiple officers were seen entering the building. Neighbours said on numerous occasions police had attended the property, with the last visit approximately two months ago ending in a physical altercation between them and the occupants.

Local resident Peter Clancy said, “crime in the Bay is getting worst” and expressed concerns over safety within the area.

According to the Queensland Police database, 1157 offences have been committed in the town in the last 12 months, with theft being the most prevalent with 415 offences recorded.

The juvenile will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
