Fire crews worked to contain multiple fires after a motorhome caught fire along the Bruce Highway near Tiaro.

Emergency crews were called out to the Bruce Highway at Owanyilla, 6km north of Tiaro, after the motorhome caught fire, engulfing the vehicle and causing a grassfire on the side of the road, police said.

Three fire crews battled the flames for more than half an hour before the fire was eventually contained at 2.10pm, a Queensland Fire spokesperson said.

No patients were assessed as the occupants left the vehicle before it caught fire, a Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said.

Motorists can expect delays while police and fire crews clear the area with only one lane open, alternating between southbound and northbound traffic, police said.
