The Fraser Coast has signed up to a charter which is aimed at supporting small businesses as they agree to a list of commitments.
It’s hoped the Small Business Friendly Council Charter, signed by Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour and the council’s CEO Ken Diehm this week, will help small business recovery across the Fraser Coast.
The initiative is led by the Office of the Queensland Small Business Commissioner and contains a list of commitments, including to:
Communicate and engage
Raise small businesses profile and capability
Support resilience and recovery
Simplify administration and regulation (red tape reduction)
Ensure fair procurement and prompt payment terms
Promote place-based activities
Established to support state councils which are assisting small businesses actively in their area, the charter is said to help build resilience following economic challenges and natural disaster repercussions.
Cr Seymour said small businesses were “the heart” of Queensland’s economy.
“Signing the charter opens the door to Council to receive more support from the Queensland Small Business Commissioner and will strengthen our relationship with local chambers of commerce and the small business community,” he said.
