How 100,000 new trees will be planted across the coast by 2030

The council has taken on a new strategy to ensure they commit to planting 100,00 trees by 2030 across the Fraser Coast.

The council has adopted a new strategy in a bid to keep their promise of planting 100,000 new trees across the Fraser Coast.

The Greening the Fraser Coast Strategy will be used as a guide to inform of the rollout of trees being planted across the coast, with the aim of meeting the year 2030 target.

New trees have already been planted along Adelaide Street in Maryborough.

Councillor Paul Truscott said the project would “provide comfortable places and spaces”.

“The Greening the Fraser Coast Strategy (is) a range of tree planting projects across the region ... enhancing the unique natural environment and lifestyle we all enjoy here,” Cr Truscott said.

“It’s about providing healthy communities, cooler suburbs and better liveability.

“The strategy includes information about street tree planting methods, proposed street tree species and soils as well as guidance on the delivery of two pilot planting projects in the Maryborough CBD and the Highview Estate in Urraween.”

Other tree planting projects include the recent works on Grosvenor Street in Maryborough, where the council joined with the street’s residents to plant a number of trees.

Further planning is currently being done to find more council-owned local areas where more greenery could be added.
