Hervey Bay police, QAS on scene at River Heads incident

Emergency crews spent more than an hour searching for a man after he went missing in the water at River Heads, near Hervey Bay.

Police have confirmed the tragic death of a man following what they have termed an “immersion incident” at River Heads, near Hervey Bay.

A police spokesperson said there were no suspicious circumstances around the man’s death.

“Police are preparing a report for the Coroner following an immersion incident at North Esplanade, River Heads, April 10,” the spokesperson said.

“Police were called shortly after 10am when a man in his 50‘s entered the water and passed away.

“This incident is not considered suspicious.”

Multiple crews responded to the incident in the search for the man, including water and land police and paramedics.
