Events will be held across the Fraser Coast as the region celebrates Australia Day.
Here’s what’s happening across the community.
Australia Day in the Village
The annual Australia Day event will go ahead at Hervey Bay Historical Museum.
The event will be held between 9.30am and 3pm at 13 Zephyr St, Scarness.
An action-packed day of Australian games and a host of demonstrations will be held throughout the day, including free tractor rides, sheep shearing and log sawing.
Talented local country performer Lance Friend will perform at the event.
Entry will cost $2 for adults and is free for children.
Australia Day at Poona
A morning tea will be held to celebrate Australia Day at Poona from 9am to 4pm.
The event will be held at Poona Community Hall at Snapper Drive.
Damper and billy tea will be available to purchase.
There will be live music until 4pm with Maryborough Ukuele group and Paul & Christine duo, bush poetry with Mick Martin.
Thong throwing, indoor bowls, community cricket and children’s games.
Australia Day at Glenwood
A free sausage sizzle will be held at an event to celebrate Australia Day in Glenwood.
It will be held at the Glenwood Community Hall in Pepper St from 8am to 11am.
It will include thong throwing and a jumping castle as well as live music.
Australia Day at the Maryborough Markets
The Maryborough community can celebrate Australia Day at the Adelaide St markets.
The event will begin at 7am and will include free bacon and egg rolls.
There will also be live music, an egg and spoon race, a sack jumping race and a best dressed Aussie hat competition.
Bay Central Tavern
The Bay Central Tavern is set to hold Australia Day celebrations.
Forbidden Road will perform, there will be a thong throwing competition and a delicious lamb on the spit.
The event will begin at 10am.
Hideaway Hotel Tiaro
An Australia Day event will be held at Tiaro’s Hideaway Hotel.
There will be live music from Iain Jackson, raffles and games and a barbecue lunch.
Old Sydney Hotel
A big day of fun will be held at the Old Sydney Hotel for Australia Day.
The event will include a sausage sizzle, a DJ, toad racing, a thong throwing competition and much more.
